This photographer, with his broad smile, has taken a large number of photographs of abandoned objects using minimalist techniques. In the mid-1980s, during a time when documentary photography and salon-style aesthetic photography still held an unshakable dominant position in South Korea, he began a contemporary shift in what traditionally defined Korean photography—so much so that it is impossible to discuss South Korean contemporary photography without mentioning this master photographer.
