Kanako Sasaki's works mainly come from Japanese traditional novels, love stories, ukiyo-e and her memories in adolescence. She uses the lens to create a surreal and quirky emotional dream, showing the modern life of being lost, escape, loneliness and self-split. She travels around the world to complete her photographic story, and she often appears as a character in her own works. Sasaki reconstructs historical events and blends her memory and imagination into them. In this way, Sasaki creates a state that is neither virtual nor real, which is very unreal when presented in photographs.
