Natalie Portman was born in Jerusalem, Israel on June 9, 1981. She won the Best Actress Award at the 83rd Oscar. She first starred in the independent film *Léon: The Professional* in 1994 and then became more widely known for playing Padmé Amidala in the *Star Wars* trilogy. During the filming of the *Star Wars* movies, Portman also completed her bachelor's degree in psychology from Harvard University. She once said, "I'd rather be smart than be a movie star."
