Google on Tuesday announced the opening of its own Google Talk to other instant messaging networks, allowing other IMs to freely use the XMPP protocol. As a result, any IM provider can connect with Google Talk for free at any time, provided that they comply with the protocol specifications. This move by Google will allow Google users to interconnect with customers of Earthlink, Gizmo Project, Tiscali, Netease, Chikka, MediaRing, and others.
