According to Indiatimes India Times, a Nokia mobile phone exploded in India recently, resulting in the death of a user who was talking on the spot.
Manoj Singh, 24, was killed in a village near a forest in Kota city in the northern state of Rajasthan. At noon on the 16th, he took his cattle to graze near the forest, but did not return home that night.
Local residents found his body on the evening of the 16th and called the police. After investigation at the scene, the police found that the dead man's left shoulder, neck and left ear had varying degrees of burns, and there were fragments of a Nokia 1209 mobile phone scattered around the body. Police have tentatively identified the Nokia 1209 as the cause of the man's death. Manoj Singh was using the phone to make a call when it suddenly exploded and killed him instantly.
The Nokia 1209 is a low-end phone introduced by the company in 2008. As an upgrade to the 1200, the 1209 provides basic phone functions while introducing background noise cancellation technology, and has won good sales in emerging markets at a lower price.
Nokia has not yet responded to a request for comment.
