Aol has announced the end of Netscape as a social news portal.

The idea is that the Internet's genesis site is about to face the future with a new face.

We've received some feedback that people do understand Netscape's brand and that it provides mainstream news editorial control. But in fact, we listened specifically to our users, and in the social news experience, did not think of Netscape netscape.com at all.
