It was previously rumored that Malaysia's .my domain names would officially open for registration at the beginning of April. Now, even before April, it has arrived. Malaysia's .my domains have officially opened for registration today, including the top-level domain suffix .my and the following second-level domain suffixes:
* com.my - applicable for business organizations or activities
* net.my - applicable for network-related organizations or activities
* org.my - applicable for organizations or activities outside other categories
* edu.my - applicable for Malaysian educational organizations
* gov.my - applicable for Malaysian government organizations
* mil.my - applicable for Malaysian military organizations
* name.my - applicable for individuals/natural persons in Malaysia
However, registration is currently only open to local organizations and individuals in Malaysia, which includes both Malaysian residents and citizens holding a Malaysian passport. Global open registration may take place in November. However, according to domestic domain registrar Zhuohui Interconnection, their company has close ties with the Malaysian registration authority, so Chinese people can also register through them. Of course, I have always been skeptical of domestic domain registrars. The registration price reported by Zhuohui Interconnection is 600 yuan per year. (From what I previously understood, Malaysia's domain registration fee is 100 ringgit. Roughly calculated, at the rate of 1 ringgit equaling 2.1 yuan, it should be around 200 yuan. This 600 yuan seems quite steep. But it makes sense, as new domains are always like this, especially when there are restrictions on registration.)
