On the evening of April 16, 2008, Sina.com user "Lion's Dignity" reported from the Carrefour entrance at Hongshan Square in Wuhan, Hubei Province that they witnessed Carrefour lowering the Chinese national flag to half-mast!!!! There are photos as evidence.

It is unclear whether this act was due to ignorance by Carrefour staff or a deliberate provocation. We strongly demand that Carrefour apologize to China, and if it was a malicious provocation, we strongly urge them to leave China immediately!!!

We call on netizens from all regions to quickly expose any instances of disrespect towards China, consumer rights violations, exploitation of Chinese suppliers, and bribery of Chinese officials observed at Carrefour stores across the country. Let us expose the arrogance of this supermarket and its illegal activities in China so that our law enforcement agencies can find legal grounds for action.

We fully support the Hangzhou and Ningbo industrial and commercial departments' inspections into local Walmart stores regarding product quality issues. We hope that industrial and commercial departments in other parts of the country will also take prompt action to clear out problematic products from Carrefour supermarkets, investigate the black-market factory goods found within Carrefour, and send Carrefour back to where it came from.
