Astro Boy made up of 138,000 subway tickets

This is a 3.2 x 2.1 meter mural of Astro Boy made up of 138,000 recyclable metro tickets.

Recently, to celebrate the opening of the new Fukutoshin subway line, volunteers from Shinjuku created an Astro Boy mural using their old metro tickets.

# This mural is displayed on the 2nd floor of the Shinjuku Takashimaya Department Store.

Astro Boy (Japanese: Tetsuwan Atomu, English: Astro Boy):

Created by the famous Japanese manga artist Osamu Tezuka in 1952 and began serialization that year. In 1963, it was adapted into an animated series by Fuji TV. After entering the new century, Fuji TV remade a new Astro Boy animated series in 2003.

Interestingly, the Japanese word "Atomu" (Astro Boy) originates from the English word "Atom" (atom), but the English version released by Japan is called "Astro" = =||| (a change of name after going through the cycle).
