Someone discovered on Microsoft's WinHEC 2008 website that Microsoft had hinted a week ago: "There will not be another Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) before the release of Windows 7."
The WinHEC conference is Microsoft's annual hardware technology event focused on personal computer terminals, servers, hardware devices, and drivers. If next year’s WinHEC proceeds as usual, this would imply that the RTM version of Windows 7 will be released no later than November next year.
Previously, Samson Shen, the CEO of ASUS, stated that ASUS plans to launch an Eee PC based on Windows 7 in the second half of next year.
If all of this turns out to be true, then the rumor that Microsoft will release the Beta 1 of Windows 7 in December is not baseless, and we might even see the official version of Windows 7 by the end of next year.
Microsoft will showcase the full version of Windows 7 at the Professional Developers Conference (PDC) to be held next week in Los Angeles. Attendees will have the opportunity to try out the Pre-Beta version of Windows 7.
