Golden firefly

I still remember when I was a child, during the hot summer nights, I often chased the flickering fireflies among the chirping of insects and frogs. Sometimes we would store them in a glass jar, sometimes we held them in our hands, catching and releasing them again and again. But now I can't remember how many years it has been since I last saw the flickering fireflies. Even if I want to find them, they are hard to trace. Because where they are, there are usually quiet and peaceful rural suburbs, and such places are rare.

This rare set of firefly photographs was taken by Japanese photographer between 08-11, in San'in and Okayama, Japan. They chose to take pictures after the rain in June and July - under the humid air that fireflies love - using long exposure to record the flight paths of fireflies. Yellow and green converge and intertwine like neon lights, forming a dreamlike effect like stars.
