Leica, the high-end camera manufacturer from Germany, has recently unveiled a limited-edition camera designed in collaboration between Apple’s chief of industrial design, Jonathan Ive, and renowned industrial designer Marc Newson. This full-frame camera will be available for charity auction on November 23rd, with all proceeds being donated to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.

It is reported that Ive and Marc spent 85 days working on this project, experimenting with 561 different models and 1000 prototype designs before finally deciding to use an aluminum body, which is Ive's preference, instead of Leica's traditional leather material. The design of this camera is based on Leica's M series, equipped with a 50mm f/2 lens, and both the body and lens are made using custom-engineered alloys. Over 21,000 tiny hemispherical dots create a new aesthetic style.

This Leica camera will be one of more than 40 items featured in the charity auction. Other auction items include 18K rose gold Apple EarPods and a custom Steinway piano. The starting bid price for this camera remains unclear at this time.
