Google Desktop 4 final release

Google released the final version of Google Desktop 4.0 on Tuesday, and the biggest improvements include the addition of "Google Gadgets."

Google Gadgets further expands the functionality of the Google Desktop Sidebar, similar to WIndows Vista's Sidebar and Apple's Dashboard. To further promote this feature, Google also released the "Google Gadgets" suite of development tools.

In addition, Google is offering $8,000 to third-party developers who create the best and most innovative "Google Gadgets" by July 31.
