Apple announces the best iOS apps of 2010

With the approach of New Year's Day, 2010 is about to end, and Apple has once again released its annual app rankings to showcase which software has been favored by users throughout the year. This year, apps and games are no longer categorized separately but are instead distinguished between iPhone and iPad, with separate lists for best free, best paid, and top ten overall.

There is nothing particularly special about the best free app list; the popularity of Facebook has made it easy for its mobile client to win first place, while "Angry Birds" has shown some fatigue after reigning supreme for several months.
