Although Valve expressed disdain for Hollywood to make its own movie version of "Half-life", but the game giant Blizzard has given Hollywood full trust, in addition to revealing the movie version of "World of Warcraft" information, Blizzard executives look forward to the possibility of StarCraft movie version, but also hope that James Cameron to serve as the director.
Rob Pardo, Blizzard's executive vice president of game design, confirmed in a recent interview that the World of Warcraft movie is in the works, but is still in the story development stage. Production company Legendary Pictures developed the film, with Sam Raimi as director, but production has been slow.
The success of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty has left many wondering if Blizzard will ever make it to the small screen. Rob Pardo says they've always wanted to make a movie out of the series, but they had to find the right production team.
Rob Pardo says: "We've always been interested in making our games into TV or movies, it's just a matter of finding the right partner. We may be able to make StarCraft into a TV or movie in the future, but the most important thing is to find creative and talented partners who are interested in our game. That's always been a challenge for us, and if James Cameron came in tomorrow and said he wanted to do StarCraft, we'd probably do a deal with him."
He further explained that Blizzard agreed to work on World of Warcraft because they found the right partner, and they believed that Legendary's previous string of excellent films would help make the film a success.
Now that the Blizzard has thrown hydrangeas to Cameron, it's up to the director of Avatar to pick it up.
