Google releases new IDC Energy Consumption report

In response to criticism in the second half of 2008 about the level of energy consumption in Google data centers (IDC), and even the amount of energy used per Google search, Google released the Google Data Center Energy Efficiency Report in the fall of 2008, and promised to publish quarterly updates. Google has released its energy consumption report for the fourth quarter of 2008 on the Sustainable Computing website. According to the report, in the fourth quarter of 2008, all of Google's large data centers accounted for 16% of their energy expenses.
