According to Google's official blog on Tuesday, Google has made significant technical upgrades to the new Picasa 3.0 and Picasa Web Albums, adding facial recognition technology and introducing a brand-new "Name Tags" feature in Picasa albums. This feature helps users quickly tag all individuals in photos, enabling them to categorize and share photos based on the people in them.

The Google Blog states that the Name Tags function uses advanced technology to automatically group similar faces, helping users swiftly tag all individuals in their albums. After tagging is complete, users can easily perform various actions, such as creating a slideshow of all pictures with themselves and a close friend or sharing party photos with everyone who appears in the album.

Moreover, the new look of Picasa Web Albums is clean and tidy, making the photos appear larger. It also includes an "Explore" page, allowing users to browse the most interesting public content on Google sites, such as "Latest Photos" uploaded to the web albums. Additionally, users can send photos directly to Picasa albums via email.

Google launched the Picasa 3.0 beta version on Tuesday, available for download at picasa.google.com. Picasa 3.0 features a "Sync to Web" button, allowing users to synchronize specific albums from their PC to the web.
