Europe's fastest supercomputer has been unveiled at a research centre in Julich, Germany. The giant machine, called Jugene, can perform 1,000 trillion operations per second.
Here are some of Jugene's features:
* Based on IBM Blue Gene/P architecture
* Super computing power a quadrillion calculations per second
* Equivalent to the computing power of over 50,000 personal computers
* 294,912 processor cores
* Processor type: 32-bit PowerPC450 core at 850MHz
* 144TB memory
* Occupies 72 racks
* Internet Bandwidth: 5.1 billion bytes per second, network latency 160ns (160 nanoseconds)
* Power: 2.2 MW
