Good OS is best known for gOS, a popular Linux operating system based on Ubuntu that runs a variety of Google applications. At the NetBook Global Summit in Paris, France, Good OS announced its latest creation, Cloud, an ultra-lightweight Linux operating system that features instant boot, browser-like interface and direct launch of Windows.

The standard capacity of the Cloud system is only 35MB, and it can run on x86 platforms with 128MB of memory. It can achieve "instant startup", that is, like the "Splashtop" system built into some high-end motherboards, it can be used normally after a few seconds of boot. It can be installed in a hard drive or NetBook SSD, or it can be embedded in the motherboard's internal flash memory, like the SplashTop system, for easy pre-installation by NetBook manufacturers.

The main interface of the Cloud operating system is like a Google Chrome browser, but it is still based on the full Linux system core. The TAB bar below the browser lists various apps, including several Google apps as well as Skype, media Player, and more. Opening a piece of software is like opening a new TAB bar in a multi-page browser. The two most interesting ICONS on the far right are the Windows Start button and the Shutdown button. As a result, NetBook users can boot up with simple applications in the Cloud, and if they need to run more complex programs, they can launch Windows with one click.

The Cloud system first supports English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Gigabyte's touchscreen NetBook will be the first to be equipped with the system, which is expected to be unveiled at CES early next year.
