Open source software guru Sam Ruby is leaving IBM for Microsoft

It has become quite common for many good open source software developers to leave IBN or other pro-open source companies for Microsoft. Sam Ruby, director of the Apache Software Foundation and developer of Atom, has announced his future intentions in a Blog post. Ruby was hired by IBM directly from Christopher Newport University in 1981 and has never left.
