Gmail is five years old - Interview with Gmail Product Manager

Gmail Labs has been providing enhancements to our inboxes for almost a year. On April 1, Gmail will turn five years old. With about 150 million users, Gmail has every webmail feature you can imagine. For a "twenty percent time" project (where Googlers spend one workday a week working on any project they're interested in), Google is doing pretty well. As the fifth anniversary approaches, we caught up with Todd Jackson, Google's Gmail product manager, about the evolution of Gmail, the state of Gmail Labs, and the damned beta mark.
