Tencent QQ has recently blocked most CN domain addresses in chat conversations, with only a few exceptions. The situation is that when an input message contains a URL ending with CN, the entire message will be blocked by QQ and will not be displayed on the recipient's screen. Please note this when sending messages containing CN domain names.
According to analysts, Tencent's move might be an inevitable measure to deal with the increasingly severe problem of Chinese spam websites. Due to the fact that .CN domains were once sold at as low as one yuan, a large number of CN domains have been used to create link factories and spam information websites. These sites often append misleading tail information in QQ chat messages via viruses or other means, luring users to visit certain spam websites. As these incidents continue to increase, Tencent has directly blocked most CN domains.
After testing, it was found that more well-known CN domains, including www.google.cn, www.net.cn, domains without www, and com.cn can still be displayed. Interestingly, the domain www.qq.cn cannot be displayed either.
Microsoft MSN has also experienced a similar situation, blocking inexpensive INFO domains.
