Afternoon news on June 28th, Alibaba's China Yahoo! made an apology for the first time on its homepage for the unfair competition behavior implemented by Yahoo! Assistant against 360 Guardian.

In the morning of the same day, China Yahoo! posted an apology statement on its homepage: "Beijing Alibaba Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Guofeng Internet Software Co., Ltd. engaged in unfair competition behavior through 'Yahoo! Assistant' against Beijing Sijie Infinite Network Technology Co., Ltd.'s '360 Guardian'. Now based on the Civil Judgment (2007) Hai Min Chu Zi No.1873, we specially publish this apology statement."

Both parties involved, China Yahoo! and Qihoo, maintained a low profile and were unwilling to talk more about it. Chairman Zhou Hongyi said in an interview with Sina Tech that he had no comment on this matter. China Yahoo! stated that both sides had reached a settlement, mutually recognizing each other's efforts in the industry.

The confrontation between Alibaba's Yahoo! Assistant and Qihoo's 360 Security Guard started in 2006. In July of that year, Qihoo joined Kaspersky and the Internet Association to launch a 100-day major cleanup campaign on the network, introducing 360 Security Guard, which provided free antivirus and removal of rogue software functions. 360 Security Guard listed Yahoo! Assistant as malicious software for detection and elimination. Later, Qihoo claimed that 360 Security Guard was blocked by Yahoo! 3721 Real Name Network. After mutual blockades using software, the two companies broke out into a war of words and turned to legal action. During this period, the results of the lawsuits were mixed.

It is reported that the above apology statement from Yahoo! will remain on the China Yahoo! homepage for several days, and the litigation between the two parties has temporarily come to an end. (He Dong, Wen Xiong)
