Ukko Lappalainen, Nokia's vice president of marketing, said on Tuesday that Nokia may start using Linux software in high-end phones.
In an interview with the media on the sidelines of the Nokia World conference, Rapalainen said that in the long run, Linux will become an important option for Nokia's high-end phones. Linux is on the rise in the mobile phone industry, and Google has launched the Android platform based on Linux. But Rapalainen noted that Nokia may not develop a Linux-based platform on its own.
Nokia uses Linux maemo software for Internet Tablet products and Symbian software for mobile phones. "I don't find Android better than Linux maemo," Rapalainen said.
