Linus released the latest stable kernel version 2.6.28 this morning, nearly two and a half months after the previous version of 2.6.27, 2008-10-10 (basically 3 months a new version), after 9 RC releases, 2.6.27 to 2.6.27.10, 2.4 series is 2008-12-02 2.4.37.
