The 70 most beautiful English words are the true wishes of human beings!

"Mother" is the most beautiful word in the English language, according to a survey of 40,000 overseas voters and learners at British Council English centres around the world. The survey was carried out to mark the 70th anniversary of the British Council.

The British Council works in China as the Cultural and Educational Section of the British Embassy. To carry out the survey, the British Council asked more than 7,000 English learners in 46 countries for their opinions on the most beautiful words in the English language. The British Council also asked non-English speaking countries for their views online through its website. More than 35,000 votes were cast in non-English speaking countries, including 3,500 from China.
