Global warming may lead to an increase in violent conflicts, according to a quantitative analysis report published in the journal Science. The researchers analyzed data from 60 studies on environmental changes and human aggressive activities, which showed similar patterns whether in Brazil, China, Germany, Somalia or the United States. The study found that if the average temperature in a month rises by 3 degrees Celsius above normal, the frequency of violence between individuals would increase by 4%, and the risk of civil war or riot would increase by 14%. Floods and droughts will also have an impact, but their effects are not as great as those of temperature. The study predicts that by 2050 global warming may increase the risk of conflict between groups by 50%.
