The lunar satellite "Chang'e-3" will be launched in December this year. The "Chinese brand" lunar rover it carries can work on the moon for three months to half a year and then stay on the moon forever. On August 8, at the press conference where China's Lunar Exploration Project signed a strategic cooperation agreement with a food company in Shenzhen, Li Benzheng, Director of the Lunar Exploration and Space Engineering Center of the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Bureau, revealed the above information.

Li Benzheng introduced that "Chang'e-3" will be the first soft landing detector and rover (lunar rover) launched by China, and also the first soft landing detector to return to the moon after the Apollo program. He introduced that what people see now is just the model of the lunar rover, and the real lunar rover sent to the moon is jointly built by several advantageous units within the aerospace system.

"The design life of the lunar rover for this moon landing is three months to half a year," said Li Benzheng. The lander of "Chang'e-3" is equipped with near-ultraviolet lunar-based telescopes, extreme ultraviolet cameras, and the rover is equipped with lunar radars. The most important task of the lunar rover landing on the moon is to survey the terrain and geological structure on the moon, and the clear photos taken will be transmitted back to the earth in time for researchers to study and analyze.
