China Mobile Feishin products will end the commercial trial and officially launched today. Contrary to previous speculation, China Mobile's Feisin service will be completely free. Earlier, at the 2007 annual meeting of China Mobile Data Department, Gao Nianshu, minister of China Mobile Data Department, stressed that China Mobile will "vigorously focus on the development of Feishin" this year. According to the goal proposed by Gao Nianshu, from January to June this year, Feishin users must reach more than 10 million, more than 3.5 million monthly active customers, and mobile client active customers account for more than 10% of the whole. In the second half of the year, Feisin users must reach more than 25 million, and monthly active users must exceed 4.5 million.
According to industry analysts, China Mobile intends to make the product a symbol of the integration of telecommunications and the Internet, and even China Mobile's 3G portal. It is reported that Feisin has a very high strategic position within China Mobile Group, is one of the three important indicators of the group's annual tasks, and is considered to be an innovative initiative with a very strategic vision.
According to an insider of China Mobile, the product positioning of Feishin is very different from that previously rumored by the outside world, and its positioning is "China Mobile's comprehensive communication service", which is mainly based on wireless communication applications and supplemented by Internet applications. And Fei letter is not the people previously understood with QQ, MSN direct contact. The monopoly position of mobile in the field of telecommunications determines the core application focus of the product, and Feixin truly realizes never offline, cross-network communication, which is a new communication product that breaks the network restrictions."
The person stressed that the future significance of Feixin is also far more important than IM(mobile instant messaging) software, will likely become a symbol of the integration of telecommunications and the Internet, but also will become an important application platform in the 3G era. The person also revealed that Feisin supports multi-party calls, and the tariff is cheaper than the current mobile phone tariff, and the current tariff for eight people to call is 25 cents for busy hours, 15 cents for idle hours, and 50 cents for roaming.
In addition, China Mobile stressed that in addition to the traditional IM function, Feisin will also bundle content such as MMS, RBT, blog, streaming media, etc., on the basis of realizing the communication between telecommunications and the Internet, Feisin will become an important application platform in the 3G era.
According to industry analysts, China Mobile's free entry into the IM field will inevitably lead to changes in the IM field pattern. Previously, Netcom's "Spirit letter" and Unicom's "super letter" were all products developed for this "thumb war". And the operators to launch their own IM products undoubtedly has a congenital advantage. In a sense, they are not only participants in the rules, but also the makers of the rules. Because of this, many IM manufacturers, including Tencent, MSN, Skype, will face a great impact.
Previously, in the face of the attack of major operators, Tencent mobile QQ and mobile MSN have responded. In December 2006, Tencent quietly announced that from December 20, its mobile QQ will be permanently free, while users previously paid 10 yuan a month to use the service. In April 2007, Microsoft's Chinese MSN division announced that the MSN mobile client in the Chinese market would be free to download and use.
