Xinhua News Agency reported that Microsoft announced on the 28th that the new Windows 7 operating system would have touch screen features, providing users with another "click" option besides the mouse.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer revealed this feature of the new system at the "Digital Product Symposium" hosted by The Wall Street Journal. He said that this was just the "tip of the iceberg" among the many new features of the Windows 7 system.
A Microsoft employee demonstrated the system's touch screen function that day, such as changing the size of photos and electronic maps through finger touch on the screen.
The Associated Press reported that the Windows 7 system is scheduled to be launched in 2009.
Unlike the grand launch of the Windows Vista system last time, Microsoft has been rather low-key in promoting Windows 7. Chris Flores, head of Microsoft's customer service department, wrote on the company's website blog that Microsoft is proceeding cautiously because changes may occur during the launch process of Windows 7.
