Tencent recently acquired the domain wenwen.com, which is now referred to its search site Soso's interactive question-and-answer service, Wenwen.com.
According to the person in charge of the domain name exchange website Win in Mi Tan, Lv Xiwen, the original owner of Wenwen.com, "In early April this year, a Mr. Zhao claiming to be from Beijing contacted Mr. Lu with the intention to buy this domain name." Because Mr. Lu also does not understand the market of domain name investment, directly to Mr. Zhao reported the price of 80,000 yuan, and soon received Mr. Zhao's confirmation that he was willing to buy the domain name wenwen.com with 80,000 yuan."
Lu Xiwen, the owner of the original domain name, also revealed that during the transaction, he did not know that Tencent was the buyer of the domain name. He said that when the domain name was not officially traded, another person had offered to pay 200,000 yuan for wenwen.com. The domain name was sold to the former because of a previous commitment.
The domain name was first registered in 1998, Whois information shows that the domain name has been transferred, and the current owner information has become Tencent. At the end of April, Lu had posted in a forum showing that he had a feeling of being cheated by selling domain names at low prices. He wrote in the post, "The original was collected by Tencent, 5555555..." Later replies show that "making up stories" and not telling the truth are more common techniques in domain name trading.
In terms of the interaction between search engines and users, Tencent Soso refers directly to Baidu. Baidu has formed a search-based community by Posting bar and knowing. Tencent search, in the early days has also launched a similar search bar with the post bar.
From the design of the website, the business model of "ask" is similar to Baidu "know", and has not yet been reflected in the navigation bar of Soso. However, from the direct entry of wenwen.com, it can be seen that the business is temporarily listed under the Soso banner and is specially marked with "new".
At present, Tencent publicly used overlapping word domain name business, has QQ.com, search, pat and ask.
