On July 24, Beijing time, Silicon Valley Dynamics learned from foreign media that Nokia announced on Tuesday that it would acquire the U.S. photo sharing social networking site Twango for an undisclosed price.
The Us-Based Twango was founded in 2004, but data from several major web-traffic measurement companies show that Tango has so far seen little user growth compared with video sites such as YouTube, PhotoBuckert or Yahoo's Flickr.
Since Chief Executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo took over in June 2006, Nokia has accelerated its acquisitions. Kallasvuo said earlier that Nokia plans to acquire more companies to strengthen its business in multimedia and enterprise users.
"With the acquisition of Twango, we are taking a solid step towards providing integrated information, entertainment and social networking services." Anssi Vanjoki, head of Nokia's multimedia division, said in a statement.
