Douban's sharing model is item-centered, whereas Squirl represents another mode - user-centered. Instead of being a site for sharing items, Squirl is more like a platform to showcase individuality, where everyone can share their own collections: books, CDs, DVDs, postcards, models, cars, planes, cannons... anything, as long as you can think of it, buy it, are willing to buy it, and can afford it. In Squirl, similar Items (collectibles) form Collections (sets of collectibles). Both Items and Collections can be commented on, and Tags can be added to one's own Items.
