This creature is called the Christmas Land Crab. On Christmas Island in Australia, there is a kind of purplish-red "Christmas Land Crab". Every year around Christmas (about 1.2 million in total), they appear in groups. The plants, grasses, and fruits along their path are completely consumed. This grand spectacle draws many tourists. Their routes are unpredictable. One year, they mistakenly entered a highway, so the locals had to close the road to let the crabs pass.
