Google.com is renowned for its simple interface and powerful search capabilities, with many websites striving to mimic Google's page layout. However, Matthew Amster-Burton, a freelance writer from Seattle, USA, noticed some changes in the layout when he logged onto Google using Firefox 1.5 on a Mac. The links that were originally at the top of the page, such as "image," "groups," "news," "Froogle," and "local search," had all been moved to a new vertical column on the left side. Additionally, each of these links was accompanied by an indicator bar composed of green and gray. Amster-Burton stated that he could no longer revert to the "old version" of Google.
