Microsoft Says Windows Phone 7 Platform Sales Reach 1.5 Million Units

Local time this Tuesday, Microsoft said that the sales volume of mobile phones based on Windows Phone 7 platform has reached 1.5 million since its release in October this year.

Microsoft VP of Windows Phone Business and Marketing Achim Berg said: "WP7 sales figures are in line with our expectations. To measure its success, long-term effects are more meaningful than short-term effects. The current sales figures are similar to other first generation mobile platforms."

The sales volume of 1.5 million does not necessarily mean so many consumers own WP7 phones, because handset manufacturers usually sell the produced handsets to mobile operators, who then sell them to consumers.
