Nikon officially released the latest models of the 1 series, the V1 and J1 mirrorless cameras.

Nikon held a press conference in Shanghai today to officially launch the new Nikon 1 brand, an entirely new system of interchangeable-lens digital cameras that brings a fresh photographic experience and performance.

The new Nikon 1 series joins the existing lineup of Nikon D-series DSLRs and COOLPIX compact digital cameras, becoming Nikon's third digital camera series.

### The Origin of the Nikon 1 Name

The Nikon 1 represents a revolutionary imaging system that significantly alters the traditional concept of digital camera image presentation, incorporating high-value-added new features. With this innovative imaging system leading the way into the digital age, the product was named "Nikon 1," which also carries the profound meaning of starting from "0" and giving birth to "1."

### Newly Developed CX Format CMOS Sensor and Image Processor

The combination of the newly developed CX-format CMOS image sensor and the next-generation image processor delivers faster processing speeds and improved shooting performance for both still images and video. The cameras are also equipped with Nikon's latest lens mount system. This new mount can be used with the mount adapter FT1, allowing the J1 and V1 models to utilize existing F-mount NIKKOR lenses, thus enabling seamless integration with users' existing camera equipment.
