Google ended testing of its Chrome browser on Thursday, marking the 100th day of its launch, foreign media reported.

Google has been trying to compete with Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. In the process, Google hopes Chrome will make it easier to gather information about users' preferences and expand the prevalence of its online applications, which run smoother and faster on Chrome.

Since its September 2 launch, Chrome has attracted more than 10 million active users worldwide, Google said in its official blog post. But Chrome still has a long way to go to catch up with its competitors. Internet Explorer has about 70 percent of the browser market, according to forecasts from several market research firms, Firefox has about 20 percent, Apple's Safari is in third place with less than 10 percent, and Chrome has less than 1 percent.

Google says Chrome's stability and security have improved, so it's ending its testing. In addition, Chrome's video and audio playback performance is now far better than the original version, download speed is faster, and bookmark management and privacy controls are better.

Existing Chrome users will receive an automatic update notification to get the official version.
