Google's popular maps service has just launched a new feature, "My Map" service, which lets users add photos, text, videos and images to maps, making it easier to create maps. But the service is currently only available to US users.
After Google launched its Google Maps service two years ago, it sparked a craze for homemade maps among map enthusiasts. For now, the average user will be offered My Maps, a tool that lets users easily map with just a few clicks of the mouse. The service is designed to help beginner users better share information online, such as recommendations for restaurants and outings. With the service, Google hopes to encourage users to add information to Google Maps. After returning from a trip, users can mark famous landmarks along their route. Create a completely personalized travel map with photos, videos, text and more.
Users can upload their own Maps for other users to find when searching for Google Maps. Users of Google's Local search service, in addition to traditional search results, will now see user-generated MyMaps-related maps in specific areas, allowing others to share their travel experiences and experiences.
