When Google launched the Android mobile device software platform, it released an SDK to developers and promised to open all its code under an open source license. Today, Google and its partners in the Open Handset Alliance have fulfilled that promise, allowing users to officially download the source code for the Android platform. The source code, which is based on the Apache 2.0 license, includes the complete codebase for Android, including all libraries, media decoders, and applications.
