The website of the New York Times recently published pictures of Mars taken by the High Definition Camera (HiRISE) of the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. HiRISE has a resolution of 1 yard (0.91 meters), and its images can show the topography of Mars in detail. With the help of these images, researchers can now count the number of tiny craters in order to more accurately estimate the age of the Martian landscape.
