Google's data centers both feed green businesses and provide jobs for people in southern Finland... Previously, Google will use wind energy to power its data centers, but now Google is making a new eco-friendly move:
Google's data center in Hamina, Finland, will be google's first in Northern Europe and is currently under construction. Google's $260 million data center will use no other cooling equipment, but seawater from the nearby Baltic Sea for cooling purposes, with 80 percent of the cooling water coming from recycled water.
Petri Kokko, head of Google Finland, said: "We employed 200 people during the construction phase of the data centre, and by the time it is complete and operational we will only have 50 people."
As a result, the data center, which consists of two giant server halls, provides both green energy and jobs for people in southern Finland.
