Since it landed in Gale Crater in August 2012, NASA's Curiosity rover has made a number of discoveries that hint at a wetter environment on ancient Mars, including this view of an area named Hottah, which may have been part of an ancient Martian riverbed. At the European Planetary Science Congress, scientists gathered to enumerate evidence for a soggy Mars in the distant past. From September 8 to 13, researchers gave detailed presentations about the rover's findings. Melissa Rice, from the California Institute of Technology, believes that Curiosity has uncovered evidence of a habitable Mars and its instruments can probe the planet's atmosphere and surface environment.
